Suspension Repair in Scarborough, ON

Suspension Overview

Your vehicle’s suspension system is a collection of components that work cohesively to make your travel experience more comfortable, safer, and better within your control as a driver. Some of the key parts include shock absorbers or struts, springs, sway bars, linkages, rods, steering arms, and joints. These can be configured differently to form suspension variations. You may also own a car equipped with an air suspension, where traditional shock absorbers and struts are replaced with airbags supplied by an onboard compressor. The suspension eases the jolt you feel from bumps, helps your automobile maintain traction with the road, and improves your ability to steer.

Signs You Need Suspension Repair

Although it’s a good idea to have the professional technicians at Traditions Auto Service check your vehicle periodically during routine visits, there are signs you may notice that should prompt you to schedule a visit for suspension repair. If you feel that your car is still bouncing too long after crossing a bump or if you’re experiencing jolts more frequently than you used to, your vehicle may need new shock absorbers. While they’re durable, these parts can succumb to general wear and tear over time. They can also sustain damage by “bottoming out,” a term used to describe overextension when your automobile hits a major hole or inclusion or is involved in a crash. You may also notice that your vehicle appears to sag or sit sideways even when parked on level ground. This is a clue that something is likely broken in a traditional system or that an airbag(s) has been compromised in an air-driven setup. Another concern is uneven tire wear. Poor suspension leads to intermittent contact with the road. This is a major safety concern because it compromises traction. The observable result is tire tread that is worn significantly more in some areas than in others. If joints or other components are worn, you may hear unusual noises or experience difficulty steering and turning. You may also hear squeaks and clunks as you cross rough surfaces, or your car may pull to one side. At Traditions Auto Service, we look forward to enhancing your ride quality and safety through suspension repair.
